“We Left to Forget… But That Day Changed Us Forever.” 🖤✈️🐍
I will never forget that journey.
We were flying to another city, excited about everything that was waiting for us. We laughed, took pictures, talked about our plans, and imagined all the beautiful memories we would make there.
None of us knew that, within a few hours, those happy moments would become memories we would wish we could erase.
The flight was peaceful at first. I was sitting by the window, watching the city disappear beneath us. The roads became tiny lines, the buildings looked like little dots, and the clouds slowly surrounded the plane.
Then I saw something move.
At first, I thought it was just a piece of the plane.
But then I looked again.
It was a snake.
It was crawling along the wing, slowly moving as if it was trying to find a way inside.
For a few seconds, I couldn’t even speak.
I called the person sitting next to me and pointed toward the window.
The smile disappeared from their face.
Suddenly, the fear spread through the plane. People were looking toward the windows, asking questions, crying, praying, and holding the hands of the people they loved.
We had no idea how it had gotten there.
We only knew one thing:
We were thousands of feet in the air, and something terrifying was moving outside our plane.
Eventually, the plane began its descent.
When the wheels finally touched the ground in that unfamiliar city, everyone breathed again.
We thought the nightmare was over.
We were wrong.
That night, everything changed.
One phone call.
One message.
One moment that divided our lives into before and after.
One of the people who had boarded that plane with us would never return home.
We searched.
We waited.
We prayed.
But sometimes, no matter how desperately you pray, you don’t get the ending you hoped for.
The city that was supposed to become a place of happiness became the place where we lost someone we loved.
The next morning, the streets were still full of people. Cars were still moving. The sun still rose.
But for us, the world had stopped.
There was an empty place where someone should have been.
An empty seat.
An unanswered phone.
And memories that suddenly hurt more than anything.
I still have the picture of that snake on the wing.
People might look at it and only see a strange moment during a flight.
But whenever I see it, I remember everything.
I remember the laughter before takeoff.
I remember the fear in everyone’s eyes.
I remember looking out that window.
And most of all, I remember the person who started that journey with us…
but never made it back home.
We left for another city thinking we were beginning a new chapter.
Instead, we left a piece of our hearts there forever.
And now, whenever I see an airplane flying across the sky, I don’t think about where it’s going.
I think about where we were that day.
I think about the people we lost.
And I wonder how something that began with so much happiness could end with so much silence.
Some journeys end when the plane lands.
Ours never really ended.
A part of us is still somewhere up there, looking through that window… wishing we could go back to the moment before everything changed.
