Police leading the search for a runner missing for five days say they have found a body in a remote area.
Jenny Hall, 23, was last seen leaving her home at Barracks Farm, Tow Law, Co. Durham, on Tuesday just after 3pm. Her red Ford Focus was found parked on the B6278 in remote moorland less than 10 miles away between Eggleston and Stanhope on Wednesday.
Earlier today, Durham Police officers were working in Hamsterley Forest, where Ms Hall was known to run, and the surrounding areas. Now, in a sad update, the force has confirmed a body has been found.
Although identification is yet to take place, Ms Hall’s family have been informed. Durham Police said in a statement: “We’re sorry to report officers searching for missing woman Jenny Hall, have sadly found a body.

Officers carried out an extensive search alongside specialist partners and have been working around-the-clock to locate Jenny after she went missing on February 18. The body was found in a very remote area in Teesdale just after 9.30am today (February 23). Formal identification has yet to take place.
“Jenny’s family have been notified and are currently being supported by specialist officers. They have asked for privacy at this devastating time.
“It is not believed there are any suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner. The force would particularly like to thank the expert mountain rescue teams who have been working intensively alongside officers on the ground.”
A huge search was launched for the runner after she disappeared earlier this week. Police officers, mountain rescue teams, sniffer dogs and HM Coastguard air support were involved in the 100 mile search. Over the weekend alone, seven drones were deployed, as well as around 60 mountain rescue volunteers and ten dogs, to aid the search.
