Nine-year-old Onyx finally got adopted after spending 7 years in an Ohio animal shelter, thanks, in part, to content creator Sir Yacht

After spending 7 years in an Ohio animal shelter, a 9-year-old dog found his forever home on Christmas Eve.
Onyx, a pit bull mix, had been a resident of the Animal Charity of Ohio’s shelter for nearly 7 years when Taylor Gordon, a photographer working with the rescue organization, began sharing Onyx’s story online in hopes of finding a family for the dog.

“Our loving boy has been here for over 6.5 years, over 2,435 days,” Gordon in a March Facebook post. “Please consider adopting Onyx, he would love to have a life outside of this room.”
He caught the attention of Sir Yacht, a content creator and musician with 187,000 followers on Instagram. Sir Yacht, whose real name is Joey Kinsley, also began sharing videos of Onyx, searching for an adoptive family for the dog. On Dec. 24, Sir Yacht on Instagram that Onyx had finally found his forever home.
“The textbook definition of a Christmas miracle,” he wrote. “Thanks to anyone who shared or supported Onyx in any way. Because of you, Onyx is getting a forever home. Never give up ❤️.”
On Dec. 28, the Animal Charity of Ohio (ACO) a video of Onyx leaving their shelter, walking down a “red carpet” as he made his way out the door of the facility.
After 7 years patiently waiting for his forever home, Onyx finally left the shelter today,” the video’s caption reads. “It was a bittersweet send-off as we will miss his excited bark and ‘bull in the china shop’ size personality, but we couldn’t be happier for him. He’ll finally get to know what a true family feels like.”
